KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 (Bernama) — What do the Jalur Gemilang, hibiscus,  Negaraku, tiger, Proton car, National Monument and national emblem have in common?

Many of us know that the Jalur Gemilang and Negaraku are our national flag and national anthem respectively, but not many of the younger generation realise  that the hibiscus (bunga raya) and tiger are also our proud national symbols.

If we observe, most of the major organisations and private sector such as Proton, Maybank, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Filem Negara Malaysia also use one of these symbols in their logo.

The Star Probe team had interviewed Anson Wong sometime back, and in that open interview Anson Wong ( who was handed a 71 Month Jail term and USD60,000 fine) had admitted that although he was involved in the smuggling of wildlife previously, he has turned the corner and now operates a legitimate business 'above board'.

Clearly, his reference of above board is different from those who used the term to signify their coming clean.

bv

The Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) opines that leaving out the "doa" (prayer) for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as head of state as well as for the states' rulers is not proper as praying for their well-being is a noble practice.

Its director-general Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz said the khatib (sermon reader) on duty should read the texts of the Friday sermons prepared by the panel and approved by the state religious authorities.

"The contents of the sermons should not be changed to avoid any adverse implications for the Muslim community.

"Jakim also calls on all quarters not to politicise religious institutions, especially mosques. Such actions will have negative effects like causing disunity and uneasiness among Muslims," he said in a statement issued here Monday.

PostHeaderIcon Khairy, Malay Are Being Oppressed, Get Up And Fight!

By JEFRY ZACHARIAH

Many people were frustrated when Khairy Jamaluddin was chosen as the UMNO Youth head and his appointment is considered rectoric, not more than that.

As a human being, there should not be any curiousity. Opportunity must be given for him to prove himself.

Personally, people want him to be as furious as Syed Jaafar Albar, high spirit as Datuk Harun, great like Anwar Ibrahim and smart as Najib who are known as UMNO Youth head during their time.

It is also hoped that Khairy is as good as Datuk Onn Jaafar who unite the Malays with strenght to abolished Malayan Union.

PostHeaderIcon HARDtalk Featuring RPK Paid By Anwar?

nb

By Satu Hala

Just like a rat which will not lose its cheese, the mad liar Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK) will not miss the chance to shame Malaysia in the eyes the world. Word is that he will be featured as a guest in a programme called HARDtalk produced by British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The programme which have a high rating of die hard followers worldwide, frequently highlights various issues especially about politics and current affairs, with its host often openly using harsh words.

In the RPK case, Malaysia-instinct.com learned that the HARDtalk recording will be done on Sept 1 and it will be on air on from Sept 6 and after.

Clearly, with his often rabid attack on Prime Minister Najib, we can assume that he will highlight the matter yet again on the presumed involvement of the Prime Minister and his wife. Malaysia-Instinct had often made checks with relevant sources, and has even posted proof of that Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor had in fact been in attendance at the material time of accusation.

Lim Guan Eng seems to be playing the bully lately, insulting and condemning with his many words perhaps for his failure to understand the sensitivity of local community, culture and aspirations of the Penang people.

As the chief minister of Penang he should set aside his revenge and personal agenda to serve the people.

Recently Ramadhan bazaar traders in Komtar demonstrated after they were not allowed to continue their businesses, something they have been doing for the past two decades.

Respect The Professionalism Of The Police Force

The “Thirteen Million Ringgit Question”: Isn’t that Home Minister interfering into Police work? Aren’t directives supposed to come from the Police Force hierrachy; i.e. the IGP instead of the Home Minister? Does that statement explains that the Police Force (at operational level) receives ‘directives’ from the Home Minister?

There is a chain of command in the Police Force. The Home Minister supposed to be the head of policy making in the Home Ministry. Means that he sets the strategic direction to the Police Force. That will then be translated by the IGP to his officers and men and women at the operational level.

This is also about accountability. The IGP is accountable for the Police Force. What will happen if the Home Minister starts to dictate the operations of the Police Force, at the State Contigent or District level? Will the OCPD, CPO, Directors of Divisions and IGP be accountable on ‘directives’ that comes from the Home Minister?

The Police Force is supposed to be professional in carrying out their duties in policing and enforcing the law. The must not and should not ever be seen as an ‘extended arm’ of the political masters. The Police Force in return must be accountable in the decisions taken on managing the law enforcement work, as per provided under the Police Act, which was enacted in 1967.
